To celebrate our country’s 250th birthday, we’ve added patriotic touches throughout the house, including a red, white, and blue table setting.
This was the first year we’ve done a table for Independence Day, as it’s typically just the two of us and pretty low key. But the idea of an American-inspired table was too fun to pass up!

So, out came anything and everything red, white, and blue.

New Purchases
New purchases included some dark blue placemats/chargers and a blue and white checked table runner (which I love).
Floral Accents

Also new were some faux blooms – it seems like I have needs every year, whether it’s for a wreath or centerpiece.
This year’s centerpiece repeated the white and blue hydrangea and red geraniums used in our Memorial Day decorations. A few white daisies and wispy blue flowers were added for texture.

The daisies were repeated in some red glass vases (they’re actually for votive candles, I just removed the metal holders). These small arrangements flank the centerpiece for a little more color.
Place Settings

And no tablescape is complete without some dollar store touches! Red and white pails and some metallic garland paired with boxes of sparklers from the grocery store came together for festive place setting accents.

We cut the garland into sections and used it as a filler for the pails. The boxes of sparklers and some mini American flags were tucked in as the finishing touch. Guests can take the flags to wave at the local parade and light the sparklers when it gets dark.
Red and white cotton napkins provide a nice layer for the place settings. The alternating blue-gray and red chargers add even more texture, as do the mismatched plates.

Now to head outside for red, white, and blue decorating on the porch.
Wishing you a safe and joyful July 4th holiday!
