The need for more love in the world inspired this year’s Valentine’s Day table of hearts and roses. These universal symbols express kindness and beauty, making them a sweet reminder that love conquers all.

To start, we chose red as the primary color for our table, and balanced it with white, green, and a little pink.

This DIY rose covered topiary serves as the centerpiece. I actually started making the topiary last year, but didn’t have enough roses to finish the project. (That was due in part to a snow storm that thwarted my Amazon delivery…sigh).
The materials finally arrived and we got it done for this year – yay! I’m so happy with the way it turned out.

It’s perched in a vintage tea pot I picked up at an antiques store years ago. The tea pot sits in a faux boxwood wreath that’s decorated with battery operated heart lights.

And the whole thing sits on a wood cake stand to give it a little extra height.

Flanking the topiary are a couple of vintage tea cups with dollar store rose arrangements in them.

A mix of patterns, fabrics, and textures creates a look that isn’t too formal. We’re after cozy comfort with a little sparkle!

Place settings of white and red were topped with small heart shaped boxes of candy. I love that each box features beautiful red roses and a Happy Valentine’s Day message. (You can find the chargers here, similar napkins here, and similar placemats here.)

The place settings on the ends of the table feature burlap place mats topped with red chargers and vintage white Limoges plates. Tea cups from my grandparents’ stash of Noritake were added for a little something different.

The wreath on the front door that opens into the dining room got a little Valentine’s Day boost, too, with this cute key and heart sign. All I had to do was hang it on the same hook as the wreath. So easy!

Another easy touch is this pink and red wreath on our dining room mirror. I love a scarf wreath, so I grabbed two light pink scarves from the Dollar Tree and wrapped them around a wreath form. Then I just tied the tails with some gingham ribbon.

In the center of the wreath, I attached a red yarn heart I made last year. Then I added some wire for hanging and that was it.

What better way to express joy than with timeless symbols of love and kindness.
Happy Valentine’s Day!
