There’s something about a fireplace mantle that just begs for cozy fall decor. A crackling fire accented with a beautiful mantle display makes any home warm and inviting.
This year we went for warm neutral tones on our mantle, but also love vibrant red, yellow, and orange, as well as shades of plum and soft pink. Texture from branches and vines, vintage books, bottles, and architectural items, add richness, as do paintings and photographs. And let’s not forget candles – lots of candles – and tiny lights for just the right amount of twinkle.
For inspiration, we combed the “interweb” for the most beautiful mantles we could find and came up with 20. Though there are many more, these spoke to our autumn-loving selves the most.

1. Beautifully Scaled
Scale is important in design and this mantle display delivers! The sizable mirror makes the perfect backdrop for the sign, vase, and tall candlestick. Extra texture provided by the grapevine wreath and leaves adds interest without being overwhelming. And the miniature pumpkins are like a punctuation mark at the end of the sentence.
2. Pumpkins & Lanterns
Bright orange pumpkins, metal lanterns, and fall berries. Need we say more?
3. Grapevine & Eucalyptus
Textural, organic, warm, cozy…we could go on, but you get the picture!
4. Pumpkins & Pinecones
Muted heirloom pumpkins and a couple extra large pinecones are all that’s needed on this stunning vintage mantle.
5. Dried Leaves & Birch Logs
A lush garland of dried leaves makes a statement on this bricked-up fireplace. No risk for fire hazard here!
6. Vintage Books & Bottles
Stacks of small, old books and a collection of brown bottles create a subtle autumn welcome.
7. Dark & Moody
Who doesn’t love a dark, moody mantle on a crisp fall night? A copper pot filled with branches of dried leaves and rich brass candlesticks paired with a couple of tan pumpkins is sheer perfection.
8. Layered Mirrors
Layered mirrors in gilt frames reflect the light of glass oil lamps and warm shades of autumn leaves.
9. White Pumpkins & Dried Hydrangeas
Pair real or faux white pumpkins in varying sizes and shapes with dried hydrangeas. Add candles and a few pheasant feathers for an understated look.
10. Organic Simplicity
Here’s proof that you don’t need a ton of decor for a gorgeous mantle. Sometimes restraint is the best design element.
11. Potting Shed Vibes
Maybe it’s because I love gardening, but this may be my personal favorite. Crusty pots, moss, pumpkins, and that amazing pumpkin painting – love it!
12. Amber Glow
Brass pheasants join a collection of amber bottles that flank a simple, black framed mirror. The pitcher of leaves and small pinecone wreath make wonderful additions – so beautiful.
13. Dough Bowl Background
Dough bowls are fantastic decorating objects. Prop a large one up as the backdrop for a few pumpkins and some trailing greenery.
14. Bountiful Harvest
Imagine a day of pumpkin picking and the basket spilling over from the weight of the harvest. That’s the story being told by this sweet mantle. This is going on my list of mantles to copy!
15. Chalkboard Message
Lots of chalkboards popped up in our mantle search. Their versatility makes them a popular pick for fall messages and drawings.
16. Warm Neutrals
We’re a fan of Hip and Humble – the creators behind this mantle. Beautifully balanced organic elements in warm neutrals – we just exhaled.
17. Wood Slice Wreath
A wreath made from wood slices, wood candlesticks, silvery-green foliage, and fabric pumpkins in a black and white check. It’s a simple palette that just works.
18. Clever Message Board
We love a little creativity and this message board-inspired mantle made us smile. It takes center stage propped above a cheerful display in muted tones.
19. Farm Sign
In addition to chalkboards, we also came across lots of farm-inspired signs during our mantle search. And why wouldn’t we? They are so cute! (Check Etsy for a good selection of them.)
20. Farmhouse Elegance
Seeded eucalyptus, sage and white pumpkins (these are of the faux variety, but real work just as well), and aged wood candlesticks. It’s farmhouse decor at its best.
