Ranch Party Crackers

Closeup image of ranch party crackers

Warning: these crackers are so good, it’s entirely possible to eat all of them in one sitting. I would know, I’ve come very close!

My friend Nancy gifted a tin of these to us one Christmas and we quickly became addicted. I’m not sure how I’ve missed these all my life, but I’m glad she introduced us!

This easy peasy recipe is perfect for holiday gatherings, or any time you want a little salty, crunchy, savory snack.

And when I say easy, I mean really easy. Probably too easy, which is why I end up making and eating so many batches every December.

All it takes is a bag of oyster crackers, some ranch dressing mix, garlic powder, lemon pepper, and dried dill. Blend the seasonings with some vegetable oil, pour over the crackers in a bowl and stir.

The crackers absorb the oil, but don’t get greasy. You’re left with a delightfully crispy snack that’s perfect any time. Give them a try at your next gathering.

Ingredients

  • 9 oz. bag of oyster crackers
  • ½ cup vegetable oil
  • 2 tbsp. ranch dressing mix
  • ¼ tsp. garlic powder
  • ½ tsp. lemon pepper
  • ¾ tsp. dried dill weed

Instructions

  • Pour the oyster crackers into a large mixing bowl and set aside.
  • In a separate small bowl or glass measuring cup, combine the remaining ingredients (vegetable oil, ranch dressing mix, garlic powder, lemon pepper, and dried dill).
  • Pour the oil mixture over the ranch crackers in the bowl and stir till all of the crackers are coated. Continue to stir till all of the oil is absorbed.
  • Spread the crackers out on a rimmed baking sheet and allow them to dry for about 20 minutes. When they are dry to the touch, transfer them to an airtight container.

Notes

  • The quality of the oyster crackers you use makes a big difference with this recipe. If the cracker is on the hard side (vs. the melt-in-your-mouth kind), it may not absorb the oil very well, which can leave the crackers greasy. You want a cracker that has some permeability to the crust. The Premium brand is an excellent choice.
