While I don’t do a lot of decorating for Valentine’s Day, I do like to have a little nod to the special day in the house.
Sometimes that’s a celebratory breakfast with a cute table setting or a Valentine’s-inspired wreath for the front door. Other times, it’s a batch of heart-shaped cookies or yummy cheesecake bites. And on occasion, it’s vases of fresh flowers in red, pink, and white.
If you’re looking for a simple way to add some love to your home this Valentine’s Day, check out these eight surprisingly easy-to-make decorations below!
Yarn Wrapped Hearts
This adorable idea from It All Started with Paint is so fast and easy. Just cut a heart shape out of some cardboard and wrap it with yarn. Seriously, that’s all you need to get these incredible results. Follow the link to access a printable heart template, pick your favorite yarn, and start wrapping!
Conversation Heart Bouquet
I made this sweet little bouquet for our Valentine’s Day breakfast table last year. Start with a glass vase. Insert a smaller glass jar in the middle to hold your flowers (I used an empty mustard jar). Then fill the space between the inner jar and vase with candy conversation hearts.
Tie on a bow, add some glittery red hearts, and presto – Valentine’s Day bouquet!
Or you could go with fresh flowers and no bow, like Pretty My Party did. Gorgeous.
You could also do the same thing with red candies. This one from Eat Well 101 looks amazing with red tulips!
Hanging Flower Heart
Want a Valentine’s Day statement piece? Make this gorgeous flower heart like the team at A Beautiful Mess. It’s crafted from Styrofoam fashioned into a heart shape, then covered with faux flowers (using hot glue). Stunning!
Valentine’s Day Tablescape
I love a good tablescape and this one from Home with Holly J doesn’t disappoint (see the video on her Instagram feed). A variety of red, white, and pink plates and linens makes for a cheerful setting. It’s practically a guarantee that anyone who pulls up a chair will feel the love.
Heart Topiaries
What a wonderful idea from Kate at Southern Home & Hospitality! It’s a subtle nod to Valentine’s Day you can keep up all year long.
A few grapevine hearts, pots, and sticks from the yard, faux rosemary (or greenery that looks like rosemary), craft wire, and foam. Follow the link above for how to make these for your kitchen.
DIY Flower Market Bucket
There’s just something about a bucket of fresh flowers that shouts “Love!”
I adore flower shops and galvanized buckets, so the idea of stenciling a little something Valentine’s Day related on them hit home with me. The one in the pic above isn’t really galvanized, so if you want to DIY the galvanizing, just follow the tutorial on Live Laugh Rowe.
If you’re more like me and prefer to start with one that is galvanized and ready to go, just grab some stencils and paint and have some fun!
Rustic Valentine’s Wreath
The easiest way to create a holiday welcome is by adding some decor to your front door. This slightly rustic wreath is one of my favorites (though I went with a yarn-wrapped version this year).
To get the look, start with a grapevine wreath and add some faux greenery, roses, ribbon, and a mix of large and small dollar store hearts.
Napkin Hearts
Another great way to add some Valentine’s Day love to your table is by folding your napkins into the shape of a heart. I love this trick for creating a memorable table setting. It’s really easy to do and this Pinterest video makes it a snap!
