Even better, designing a tablescape doesn’t mean you need to spend a ton of money. In fact, some of the most impressive designs use what you have around the house and yard. Always go digging in your own stash before handing out your credit card.
If you do find you’re in need of something, check out the gazillion Halloween sales happening at craft stores. Honestly, the closer you get to the holiday, the deeper the markdowns. I just stocked up on fall floral items for next year – at 70 percent off, it was a bargain I couldn’t resist!
To help jumpstart your creativity, we’ve rounded up eight amazing examples of Halloween tablescapes.
What a wonderful time to add a little Halloween to our homes, have fun, and exercise the creative part of our brains. Let’s get to it!
1. Vintage Inspiration
For starters, I love anything by Michael at Inspired by Charm. He’s amazing, creative, and has great style.
So it’s no wonder he created such an incredible Halloween tablescape. It features a collection of vintage-inspired Halloween decorations including a paper mâché jack-o-lantern as the centerpiece. Joining it are several black candlesticks and mini pumpkins set atop a length of gauzy black fabric. The fabric is further accented with black, orange, and white crepe paper.
Above, paper fans hang from the light fixture adding color and visual interest to the negative space between the fixture and table.
Finally, simple white plates are topped with black and white checked napkins and some DIY treat bags (get the tutorial here). Adorable!
2. Dinner for Witches
Invite your favorite coven of witches for a seat at this simple but wonderful table.
A gauzy black runner offers a perch for some wooden crows and a collection of mini white pumpkins. Our hostess’s witch hat takes center stage on a wooden cake stand that is accented with just a few black taper candles.
We love the clever place card holders the most. A backyard twig becomes a broom handle while dollar store straw tied on with twine become the bristles. It’s a quick project I fully intend to copy!
3. Black & Orange Masterpiece
What an incredible creation by Holly J! This black and orange masterpiece mixes different elements in the same color palette for a tablescape that represents everything we love about Halloween.
Let’s break down some of the key elements: spider web placemats and napkin rings, black, orange, and white velvet pumpkins, black and orange dishes, orange votive candles, black, orange, and white wooden beads, and those fabulous pumpkin figures.
And let’s not forget the amazing cake and caramel apples – it’s a wow!
4. Spooky Forest Owls
A pair of golden eyes glowing in the dark followed by an eerie hoot can send shivers down the spine. Surrounded by black twigs, fall leaves, and white pumpkins, this pair of woodland owls makes it clear you’re being watched!
Adding a creepy element to the table settings are black rats ready to nibble at your meal. They’re perched on the edge of black tree plates, which are actually a Christmas find, but work perfectly for this Halloween tablescape.
5. Poison Party
Guests beware! One sip from this table and you may end up as part of the decor for next year.
Moss strewn on top of a(nother) gauzy black table runner sets an ominous tone. Skeletons, metallic pumpkins, and black and bat-themed taper candles mix with bottles of “poison” in this spine-tingling display.
6. Crow Craze
Another take on the crows and witch theme, this tablescape pays more homage to our feathered friends.
A whimsical witch hat reminds us that crows and witches just go together at Halloween. Add some colorful fall napkins and Halloween-inspired plates along with a set of smoked wine glasses and you are ready to entertain!
7. Frightfully Formal
Drippy candles, skulls, bones, moss, and glass cloches are all it takes to turn a table into a frightful scene. Cue the organ music!
8. Pewter Perfection
With its haunting matte finish, pewter makes the perfect material for a Halloween tablescape. It exudes a sort of creepy colonial vibe.
We love the natural accents in this look, including beeswax candles, bittersweet vine, and mini pumpkins. The white pumpkin and crow centerpiece is perfection.
I hope these tablescapes provide you with some decorating inspiration, or just gave you the chance to take a break and indulge in some holiday creativity!
Happy Halloween!
